American College of Physicians
The American College of Physicians was founded in 1915 to promote the science and practice of medicine. ACP is a national organization of internists. With 119,000 members, it is the largest group of medical specialists in the United States. Internists (Doctors of Internal Medicine. Doctors for AdultsŪ) specialize in the prevention, detection, and treatment of illnesses in adults.
The mission of the college is to enhance the quality and effectiveness of health care by fostering excellence and professionalism in the practice of medicine. ACP's core values include leadership, excellence, respect, compassion, professionalism, and responsibility, which are all consistent with its mission and inspire its planning. To fulfill this mission, the American College of Physicians develops new programs, products, and services focusing on the diverse needs of the practicing internist, which vary across local markets, work settings, and specialties.
